JOIN THE BOARD
Bikes Without Borders is currently seeking passionate, energetic and highly motivated candidates to join the current board of directors. The organization is currently at a very exciting juncture, with significantly expanded financial and operational capacity, and we want a board that can steer the organization through this exciting phase of growth.
Our objective is to expand our current board by adding directors who specifically have experience in:
Fundraising, Corporate Partnerships: We want to develop long-term partnerships with brands that are in alignment with our values and objectives, and are seeking a board member with experience building these types of partnerships.
Fundraising, Large Donors: We are always looking for directors with connections to donors that can offer significant long-term financial support to the organization.
Fundraising, Grant Writing: We are seeking someone with grant writing experience and knowledge of the grant ecosystem to help us access additional grant funding for our programs.
Marketing and Communications: We want to build increased awareness of the Bike Without Borders brand not only locally, but also internationally, with an eye towards bringing on more individual donors. We are looking for someone with senior experience leading marketing and communications in a charity context.
Legal: A lawyer with non-profit and governance experience would help ensure that we are compliant with all charity regulations.
Strategic Planning: Help BWB clarify our vision with goals and strategy to achieve them, make decisions on allocating our resources to pursue this strategy, and establish mechanisms for monitoring and guiding the implementation of the strategy.
Prior experience with non-profit organizations, charities or board directorships is not required but would be an asset.
We are looking for people who are passionate about cycling and/or making a positive impact in the world, who have relevant experience and skills in the above areas, and who are truly committed to helping the organization rather than padding their resumé.
All board members are expected to:
Attend at least 4 board meetings per year (we meet 6 times a year, for about an hour)
Contribute a minimum of 3 hours per month of their time to the organization
Fundraise and/or donate a minimum of $2500 CAD annually for/to the organization (we will support your efforts with campaigns and easy-to-use giving pages)
